An INFJ and an expert at overcommitting, I am passionate about everything and anything to do with empowerment and advocacy. As part of the BYU Filipino, Antiracism, and Women of Color clubs, I'm constantly immersed in what we can do to help others courageously belong in a space that may have originally ostracized them. Having been in this position before, it gives me no greater joy than to see others finally find a community of understanding. Ultimately, I absolutely love serving in capacities where we can create necessary social change.

What sparked your interest in your major?

Sociology gives me the opportunity to learn more about important societal developments and the reasoning behind it while exploring social issues and Global and Community Impact provides the opportunity to go beyond theory and to do something about these issues

What is something you can never be found without?

My Notes and Google Calendar apps-- as a people pleaser, I agree to do far too many things than my brain has the capacity to remember.

When you have 30 minutes of free time, what do you do?

It really varies, but it always ends up being an Internet rabbit-hole of some sort. I just get very hyper-fixated in whatever I'm reading-- last weekend, it was Ballard Briefs; this week, it's college inclusion offices across the United States. Next week, it'll probably be something completely out of the blue!

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?

I first joined the Honors Program for the "honors" title, but I stayed because of the quality of interdisciplinary education it provides. I love learning about new connections between fields of study and expanding my perspective of the world!

What has been your favorite Honors experience?

My favorite Honors experience is the one I'm having right now in the Great Questions course; my favorite classes are always the ones where I have the most freedom in my learning, and this class allows me to explore a singular multi-faceted question in a million different ways-- satiating my desire to simply learn more.

What is your next step in Honors?

My next step in Honors will be finishing up my last unexpected connections course, then starting the thesis proposal process as well as hopefully getting an internship approved to fulfill the leadership requirement! All of these will be happening simultaneously, so this is a pretty great deal!
