I’ve always loved learning! I graduated a year early from high school and have loved my first year of study at BYU. I’ve wanted to go into law since I was in middle school and hope to practice immigration law. However, I had a really hard time choosing an undergraduate major because I am interested in so many things! I love classic literature, political science, art, and cinema, all of which I would have loved to study here at BYU. I eventually landed on philosophy because I believe that philosophy is engrained in every element of the culture and beauty in society.

What is something you wish everyone knew about your major/field of study?

Not all philosophy majors are pretentious and balding. Some are haha… but most aren’t.

All modesty aside, what are you better at than 90% of people?

I bet I can quote the office quicker and more accurately than most people.

What are your favorite books? / What are you currently reading?

I have too many favorites, but I recently finished The Last Day of a Condemned Man by Victor Hugo which was totally fantastic.

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?

I decided to join the honors program because of the emphasis on interdisciplinary studies and approaches to learning. I love the idea that true knowledge is not obtained through a vacuum, but rather through exposure to interdisciplinary connections.

What has been your favorite Honors experience?

I have actually really appreciated every interaction I have had with the honors advisors. Meetings with these advisors have always resulted in a huge increase in confidence regarding my path and progress towards my honors goals!

What is your next step in Honors?

I’m currently in the beginning phases of my honors journey and am starting on the unexpected connections courses. I’m currently loving my biology and letters course that deals with the connections between biology and mythological creatures in fiction.
