I am a son of God, child of the covenant, and disciple of Christ. I am the oldest child in my family. I love studying The Book of Mormon, the words of living prophets, and the science and engineering behind computers. I also enjoy service to others, research and teaching related to health, nutrition, and math.

What are your favorite books? / What are you currently reading?

Three of my favorite books include The Book of Mormon, the other standard works of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Saints: The Story of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have also enjoyed reading The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, biographies of presidents of the Church of Jesus Christ, and articles in the Liahona and YA Weekly.

What is something you can never be found without?

My testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel is something that I can never be found without. When I first planted the seed as a child, I began patterns of testimony-building and growth that have continued until now. I love Jesus Christ. The scriptures and words of the prophets, the Holy Ghost, and keeping God’s commandments have helped me come to know Christ as the Son of God, the Savior and Redeemer. I know He lives.

What sparked your interest in your major?

I would like to do research in medical technology. When I was young, I often helped teachers, friends and neighbors fix technology. I developed skills with engineering, math, and computer programming through high school and college, and now I want to develop and share those skills by studying in the computer engineering program. I have also had an interest in health and nutrition, and using computers to improve human health is what I hope to do in graduate school.

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?

My very longest-term goal is to become like God. Doing so requires much knowledge and intelligence. Throughout my life, I have enjoyed taking a variety of classes, actively pursuing knowledge through inquiry and connection, and engaging in challenging research. The Honors Program at BYU is a useful tool for me to continue growth to become like God.

What has been your favorite Honors experience?

The disciple scholar lectures have consistently been excellent and enjoyable opportunities for me to learn and grow. I have changed perspectives and gained new insights on civil rights, self-discipline, and creativity, to name a few.

What is your next step in Honors?

My next step is to propose my honors thesis.
