Ethan Hardy
Major: Music
Graduation: April 2026

I'm a sophomore, and I'm from Heber City Utah. I'm passionate about learning, teaching, music, riding my motorcycle, and doing exciting things outdoor.

What are three things that can always be found in your pantry/refrigerator?

Chicken nuggets (perfect fuel &quite healthy), Hummus (may be a phase I’m in but it’s lasted close to a year now I eat hummus most everyday) and Sourdough Bread.

What sparked your interest in your major?

I was interested in the idea of who I could become as a musician by studying it intensively for four years. I love the gratification that comes from learning and playing music. I also feel like music can communicate powerful emotions that are an important part of the human experience.

When you have 30 minutes of free time, what do you do?

I like to meditate or nap if I have the opportunity to. Both feel like little gifts to my body.

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?

I felt like I wanted the opportunity to grapple with hard questions and expand my world view. Since coming to BYU, I've met people that really care about taking care of others and being a good person, and I feel like the Honors program could be something that could help me get closer to that.

What has been your favorite Honors experience?

I attended a presentation last semester that was done by a Spanish professor (AAVP John Rosenberg) talking about his experience doing the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage in Spain. I think the content of the presentation embodied why I'm pursuing honors, and it introduced me to this professor that I very quickly grew to admire.

What is your next step in Honors?

My next step is to start taking unexpected connection classes.
