Dallin Swanson

Name: Dallin Swanson
Major: Exercise Science
Minor: Gerontology
Graduation: April 2023

I am from Draper and served a mission in Sao Paulo, Brazil. My wife and I are both graduating this semester and have loved our time at BYU. I will begin medical school in July and am very excited to start!

What’s one item on your bucket list?

Visit Machu Picchu! I think it would be awesome to see the ruins amazing architecture and history of the area.

What are people often surprised to learn about you?

I have an identical twin. You might see him on campus and if you call him Dallin, he will likely respond by saying hi.

What sparked your interest in your major?

I knew that I wanted to go to medical school after finishing my undergraduate. I chose exercise science because the research seemed really exciting. I have worked with MRI and ultrasound in various muscle systems over the past four years and have loved it.

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?

The classes sounded really fun; I liked the idea of being able to learn from professors from various departments on campus that I otherwise would not work with. I also wanted to work on an Honors thesis as I thought this would help me apply to medical schools.

What has been your favorite Honors experience?

I have loved the classes. I have taken classes from Jazz history to birdwatching and music theory to philosophical debate on the meaning of virtue. Each of these classes has taught me so many unique things that I wouldn't learn just from normal general classes or from my major classes.

What is your next step in Honors?

This is my last step in Honors. I have completed my leadership experience, my thesis and am currently in Honors 320.
