I am a graduating senior who is no longer sure he wants to be done with college. I am passionate about backcountry skiing and reading books, and I love to get away into the mountains. I've never been great at entries about myself, so I'll just rapid-fire personal facts: My favorite meal is biscuits and gravy; it's the most delicious invention humanity has made. I am afraid of dragonflies and their creepy beady eyes. I love to learn and teach languages; I currently volunteer as an ESL teacher at the Somali Community Agency in Salt Lake City a couple times a week. The Utah Jazz are the greatest basketball team of all-time (not a fact about myself, but it needed to be said).

What's been the most significant plot twist in your life?
One day I woke up and I suddenly loved tomatoes. I had thought they were the devil's plant before that. It was quite the surprise.

All modesty aside, what are you better at than 90% of people?
Memorizing useless dates and facts. I may forget people's names and things that actually matter, but if I ever end up on Jeopardy, I've got a puncher's chance.

What's one item on your bucket list?
Get my pilot's license and own a small plane.

What's the best-kept secret at BYU?
The free mechanical pencils in the Kennedy Center Office.

If there was an Olympics for everyday activities, what activity would you have a good chance at winning a medal in?
Walking foot-in-front-of-foot on a sidewalk ledge.

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?
Originally, it was because I was on a mission during class enrollment and my mom had crafted my schedule. I decided to stay because of the profound impact Honors 120 had on how I viewed myself and learning.

What has been your favorite part of your Honors Experience?
Sitting in the auditorium of the Maeser Building listening to different dynamic talks each week in Honors 120. It was my first semester and it felt like what I had always imagined college being. I looked forward to the Friday lecture all week.

What is your next step in Honors?
I was on the Honors Student Leadership Council last semester. I successfully defended my thesis in the fall and finished all my coursework last year. My first semester at BYU was long, but the last seven have gone by in the blink of an eye and now I'm old and crusty.
