I'm Scout Siebert, and I am a sophomore studying neuroscience. I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but I spent my life moving and living overseas. I have lived in eight countries, and I had the opportunity to graduate high school in Lusaka, Zambia. I hope one day to go to graduate school and continue to travel as a part of my future career. I am passionate about science, volleyball, Marvel movies, and The Rolling Stones.

What's one item on your bucket list?

The biggest thing on my bucket list at the moment is to go skydiving with my sister.

When you have 30 minutes of free time, what do you do?

I love spending my free time with my friends and family. Whether it’s watching a movie, playing a game, or going on a hike/walk, I love spending quality time with my loved ones.

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?

I went to small international schools my whole life. My graduating class consisted of 28 people, so coming to BYU was a little daunting to me. I wanted to join the Honors Program because it offered a small, close-knit community that felt personal and safe. Not only did the Honors Program offer me a unique BYU experience but it also provided me with a chance to get to know other students with similar aspirations.

What has been your favorite part of your Honors experience?

I have loved working as an Honors 120 TA! Getting to know and work with professors and other students has been such an amazing experience. Being able to teach other Honors students has helped me so much and has been such a fulfilling job to have.

What is your next step in Honors?

I am hoping to take the Physical Science and Culture Unexpected Connections course next semester to finish my Unexpected Course requirements. I also started working in a neuroscience lab studying alcohol and drug addiction which has helped me start to think about my upcoming thesis proposal.
