I am the second oldest child in my family by two minutes. My parents were brave enough to have three more daughters making a total of five girls in my family. There is always something chaotic and exciting happening at home. This fall I am living in the Foreign Language housing at BYU. I have enjoyed the additional focus it brings to speaking Mandarin in conversations. My major is Bioinformatics. This allows me to have a broad experience with Biology, Statistics, and Computer Science. I love to be academically challenged and enjoy working in the Adams Lab doing research on nematodes from Antarctica.

What’s one item on your bucket list?

Study abroad in China

What are three things that can always be found in your pantry/refrigerator?

Eggs, rice, and muffin mix.

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?

I joined the Honors Program after viewing a number of research papers from the program. My major and minor are very different. I appreciate the challenge to learn using different perspectives to identify new solutions for challenges.

What has been your favorite Honors experience?

I appreciate that the Honors Program allows me to engage with students beyond my major. I enjoy the classes as well as the forums and social events that continually expand my network.

What is your next step in Honors?

I am in Honors 320 writing my great questions essay. My next step is my thesis proposal. I have been working in the Adams Lab researching nematodes. I am excited to include this effort in my thesis.
