I am from Provo, Utah and am the oldest of five kids. I love school and my amazing professors, and I love my job, working at the Research and Writing Center! In my free time I like to play tennis, attend BYU sports games, read, ski, and spend time with my amazing friends and my family (and my family’s dog). After graduation, I would love to get a Master’s degree and then I plan to go on to teach English at the secondary level.

All modesty aside, what are you better at than 90% of people?

Memorizing song lyrics. After hearing a song once or twice, I basically know every word whether I want to or not haha.

What do you do differently than most people?

I am almost constantly in the middle of at least 7 or 8 books at once. I also purposely make sure I never wear matching socks.

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?

I guess just because I love learning! I knew the Honors Program was a great opportunity, and I wanted to take advantage of it!

What has been your favorite part of your Honors experience?

The Unexpected Connections courses helped me to understand topics like literature, psychology, biology, and race in relation to one another in a way I never would have thought possible. Since gaining these new perspectives, I have honestly seen both myself and the world around me differently. Plus, all the different types of writing required for different classes in the honors program have helped me to drastically improve my writing abilities—and I’ve had fun while doing it!

What is your next step in Honors?

My thesis proposal—“Surfaces and Appearances": Character, Physiognomy, and Judgment in Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins's A Message from the Sea—just got approved, so now I get to finish researching and writing! It’s going to be so fun, and I am so grateful to the incredible professors who are working with me.
