My name is Adam Holland, but I go by Jack because Adam is my father’s name. My family consists of me, my younger brother Ricky, my father Adam, my mother Jacquie, and our two golden retrievers, Liberty and Bailey. I have family in the Salt Lake Valley region. I am second generation BYU student on my mother’s side and fourth generation on my father’s side. I was born while my parents were still attending school. Needless to say, I bleed Blue.

Due to my father’s career, I have moved several times living in, Utah, Wisconsin, Illinois, California, and Idaho. I graduated high school with my International Baccalaureate Diploma. Through my life experiences and education, I have gained a passion for international cultures, perspectives, and history. I am a freshman at BYU and have enjoyed my time so far. After this semester, I plan on serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am currently majoring in Pre-Business.

I enjoy playing basketball, volleyball, and football and have participated in clubs and teams for each in the past. Some other hobbies of mine are playing video games, watching movies, weightlifting, listening to music, skiing, and spending time with friends. I am also to learning to play the guitar, but this has had mixed success. Another activity I enjoyed was training my dogs to become therapy animals.

What are people often surprised to learn about you?

My first name is Adam yet I go by Jack which is my middle name.

What are three things that can always be found in your pantry/refrigerator?

Soda and Protein Shakes and Water.

What is something you can never be found without?

I can usually never be found without earbuds or headphones of some kind.

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?

I decided to join the Honors program based for multiple reasons. First, my father is an Honors alumni and recommended it. Second, I find the idea of the unexpected connections classes to be highly appealing. Third, I really like the Honors Program's mission and focus on interdisciplinary education.

What has been your favorite Honors experience?

My favorite Honors experience has been to learn about the mission of BYU and Honors along with interdisciplinary perspectives.

What is your next step in Honors?

My current step in Honors is HONRS 120 and the next is the commitment interview!
