I’m from beautiful Provo, Utah and am the oldest of six kids. I’m a passionate BYU sports fan; you can find me at any home football or basketball game cheering as loud as I can. If I’m not there, I’m probably hiking in the mountains with my dog, hanging out with my friends and debating the merits of our favorite fictional characters and Taylor Swift songs, working at the BYU writing center (best job on campus!), or reading anything from YA fairytale retellings to books about the history of autopsy.

What has been the most significant plot twist in your life?

Going on a mission (never wanted to), to an English-speaking mission at Vancouver, Canada (was convinced I’d serve in Germany), and then dealing with COVID (let’s be honest, that was a plot twist for everyone).

All modesty aside, what are you better at than 90% of people?

I can read really fast (like REALLY fast) and I can also imitate a variety of random animals sounds (my dolphin impression is a real crowd-pleaser)

Why did you decide to join the honors program?

Honestly? At first, I just wanted a way to take generals like Physics and Biology combined with subjects I’m more confident in, like English and Art. But the further I’ve gotten in the program, the more I’ve loved the idea of taking an “interdisciplinary approach to my education and making connections in unexpected places. It’s helped me look for ways I can apply those concepts in my other classes and try to “think outside the box.”

What has been your favorite Honors experience?

Going stargazing at Capitol Reef as part of one of my Unexpected Connections classes is something that I’ll never forget.

What is your next step in Honors?

I’ve just started my Great Questions essay! I’m going to be exploring why we have feelings and the merits of empathy from as many different perspectives as I can.
