Beth Ericson
Major: English Teaching
Minor: French
Graduation: April 2024

I’m a crossword enthusiast who can never eat too much lemon. I’m passionate about autumn leaves, beautiful sunsets, and constellations. Within my major I love British lit, Billy Collins poetry, and studying the importance of teaching vocabulary at a secondary level.

What are three things that can always be found in your pantry/refrigerator?
Yogurt, peanuts, leftover Costa Vida salad.

What are people often surprised to learn about you?
I love detective and crime TV shows. I’m a huge romantic, but murder mysteries also fascinate me. My top three shows are probably Psych, Monk, and The Mentalist.

All modesty aside, what are you better at than 90% of people?
Cleaning the bathtub. I actually love cleaning the bathtub, and I do a mighty fine job of it if I do say so myself.

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?
I wanted to meet like-minded people who were passionate about learning, and it provided a unique opportunity to take interdisciplinary courses.

What has been your favorite part of your Honors experience?
The unexpected connections courses. I learned so much more than I thought I would, and actually came to like subjects that I previously didn’t like because of the cool connections we were making in class.

What is your next step in Honors?
This semester I’m on to the Great Questions course, learning how to develop questions that will help me progress towards formulating a thesis.
