BS International Relations
Graduation April 2021

I grew up in Seattle, Washington and when I was 16 my family moved to Boston. After one year, we moved to Mexico City, where I lived until I began my undergraduate studies at BYU. I have always been an avid runner. Throughout high school, I ran track and cross-country. I have now run a half-marathon and hope to complete several more, as well as a full marathon. Music is another one of my passions; it has provided a lot of solace in my life. I love playing the piano. Of my goals in life, I aspire to help others. I love meeting and learning about new people: their backgrounds, their circumstances, and their passions. I would like to attend law school after I complete my undergraduate degree and pursue a career in international law, specifically working in human rights disputes.

What’s something that people might not know about you?
Every Christmas I make a video of myself dancing to a Christmas song! I’ve done this for four years in a row. The one from two years ago has Professor Dorff in it from the math department :)

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?
Initially I joined because I thought graduating with honors would help me get into graduate school. I chose to stay after the introductory course because I enjoyed the open discussion settings of the classes. Rather than sitting through a general biology class, I was able to hear distinct thoughts of other students from various disciplines. I thought it was fascinating how one field of study could extend into other schools of thought.

What has been your favorite part of your Honors Experience?
My favorite part of my Honors Experience is all of the people I have met. While many classes I take pertain to politics or economics because of my major, the Honors classes have allowed me to ponder different ideas. I learn things I would likely not have in my own field of study due to working with other students in various disciplines. I met some of my closest friends at BYU in the Honors Program, and I probably would not have met them had I not enrolled in it.

What is your next step in Honors?
I have completed the introductory class as well as two of the Unexpected Connection courses. I plan on completing my final Unexpected Connection course (Social Science/Letters) this next academic year. Additionally, I plan on participating in a study abroad program in Winter 2020.
