Major: Electrical EngineeringMinor: Japanese
Graduation: June 2021

I'm Keaton, a senior in electrical engineering from Wisconsin. I decided to study EE because I wanted to be a more capable artist. In my opinion, there's a direct connection between technological and the arts. My hope is to make devices that enable novel forms of self-expression. To that end, I'll be moving to Japan in October to begin a masters program in informatics at the University of Tsukuba. I'll be doing media technology research in the Digital Nature Group. In my free time I DJ and write electronic music. Coincidentally, that was my introduction to electrical engineering in the first place.

What is your go-to comfort food?
Diet A&W Root Beer, fridge cold cans only.

What do you do differently than most people?
I track my diet pretty meticulously. At any given time in the day I could probably tell you how many calories and grams of protein I've had.

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?
To be honest, it's hard to remember. I took the intro class and it seemed like a viable path to research and exciting academic opportunities.

What has been your favorite part of your Honors Experience?
BioLetters was a wonderfully taught class. It had one of the coolest projects I've been able to do at BYU - I made a phylogenetic tree tracing the evolution of AI & robots throughout the history of media!

What is your next step in Honors?
To wrap up and defend my thesis! Wish me luck.
