Joshua Brown
Hi! I was born in California in February 2002 and was raised in Daybreak (South Jordan, UT) by a Police Officer (he's also a great dad!) and a wonderful mother. Some of my passions include Athletics (Running, Biking, Ultimate Frisbee), Politics (I'm a mix of libertarian and conservative), Self-development (inspired by Jordan Peterson, remember to clean your room!), keeping hydrated, D&D, Reading, Guitar, and Sad boy Lofi/rap (Powfu, Mishaal) and a wide variety of other music. I also enjoy talking to strangers, meat, and learning more about how people work, and how we can work better.
What's your favorite quote?
"Life before death, Strength before weakness, Journey before destination"-The Way Of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. Life isn't only about the destination, it's about what you did, who you helped, and who you became in the process!
What do you do differently than most people?
Walk to class. Most people listen to music/podcasts or walk with someone they know. I'm a little bit different, you'll often see me flipping my water bottle over and over again or complimenting people and starting random conversations as I walk to where I need to get!
Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?
My cousin Gabe Richardson told me I could get double GE credit by taking some honors classes! He also told me that we get to learn from a new presenter every other week!
What has been your favorite part of your Honors Experience?
Twofold, the first is my section in 120 (shout out 12:00 section 9 W/ Quincy Taylor!) It is one of my only in-person classes and I love the diversity of opinion and the people in there. Also, the Maeser building is the best building on campus.
What is your next step in Honors?
After 110 and 120 I get to do some interdisciplinary courses (I'm thinking I'll be taking Honors 221, 225, and 226) this next semester!
