I love to read and write, and I hope to find a career as a YA fantasy novelist. I also love to draw and paint, and to admire the works of other artists.

What is your favorite quote and why?

“Happiness can be found in the darkest of places if only one remembers to turn on the light.” -Albus Dumbledore. It’s an important reminder that happiness is a choice, and that I can actively pursue happiness by reaching out to others.

What are your favorite books? / What are you currently reading?

Anything by Brandon Sanderson. I recently discovered Patrick Rothfuss and love his series, The Kingkiller Chronicles.

All modesty aside, what are you better at than 90% of people?

I’m really good at finding typos, which comes in handy when I’m proofreading an essay but drives me crazy when texting.

Why did you decide to join the Honors Program?

I was intrigued by the Unexpected Connections courses, and once I tried one, I was hooked. I loved learning about where biology and literature overlap, and seeing what social science has in common with art. Plus, the professors are amazing!

What has been your favorite part of your Honors experience?

The Great Questions Essay was both an incredible class to take and a wonderful piece to write. I learned so much about my own desires to learn and my passions, as well as about the world I live in and our understanding of it.

What is your next step in Honors?

Thesis proposal—I’m currently in search of a committee chair!
