Experiential Learning

Typically during the 2nd or 3rd year at the university, Honors students must participate in an approved, substantive experience that augments their BYU and Honors education. For approval please fill out the form below and submit it to the Honors Advisement Center (MSRB 350)

Options to fulfill this requirement include:

Option 1: Honors Peer Mentoring

Serving as an Honors Peer Mentor to “exploring” Honors students in HONRS 120, or serving as a teaching assistant in interdisciplinary courses UNIV 291, UNIV 292, UNIV 293. Students who choose this option will enroll in HONRS 390, Honors Peer Mentoring (3.0 hours).

Option 2: International Program

– The Cambridge Direct Enrollment Program, Oxford University Social Innovators Program, or other university-sponsored Study Abroad, Field Studies, or International Internship program. Credits earned on these programs will count as fulfilling this requirement.

Option 3: Academic Service

Approved forms of Academic Service will fulfill this requirement. Examples include BYU Tutoring, University Accessibility Center, and the Y-Serve Program. Before starting any academic service to count toward this requirement we recommend that you get it approved first with the form below.
