Freshman Academy
We encourage incoming students to take advantage of the Freshman Academy program. FA communities include envelope options with Honors classes that fulfill university requirements for Honors students. This allows Honors students to participate in and benefit from the advantages of both programs.

HONRS 100
We highly encourage all incoming students to register for an Honrs 100 course; it is a one-credit class that will be an excellent introduction to academics at BYU and the Honors Program.
You will notice that there are two categories of courses listed in the class schedule under the course number Honrs 100, but with different titles. Here is an explanation of what they mean:
- Late Summer Honors: credit for students who participate in the Late Summer Honors Program. Registration is only available through registering for the program at http://latesummerhonors.byu.edu.*
- Freshman Honors Experience: designed for incoming freshman students who are not participating in Late Summer Honors
*Please note: If you are already participating in Late Summer Honors, you are receiving Honrs 100 credit for it and will not be able to get additional credit for another section.
On-Campus Housing
The Honors Program, in coordination with Freshman Academy, groups Honors students in selected units of on-campus housing while they are participating in an Honors Freshman Academy envelope. While students taking Honors courses are not required to live in Honors areas, we encourage students to take advantage of this excellent opportunity for spiritual, intellectual, and social interaction with fellow Honors students.
There are no other programs that provide housing specifically for Honors students. Many Honors students make arrangements to share housing contracts after meeting each other in their first semester.
Late Summer Honors
This intensive one-week program, held in mid-August, allows students to earn their first Honors course credit under the stimulating tutelage of some of BYU's finest professors, meet other new Honors students, enjoy a number of exciting out-of-class activities and familiarize themselves with campus well before the fall semester begins.
For more information, see http://latesummerhonors.byu.edu.
New Student Orientation
In the past, the Honors Program has held a special Honors Freshman Conference following Late Summer Honors and preceding New Student Orientation. Now, we integrate our program with New Student Orientation. Special honors activities will be interspersed with the regular orientation sessions for both summer and fall orientations. If you are planning on attending, make sure you go to the NSO site to RSVP online.
Please note that this information is tentative and could change--always check the NSO site for the most current information.
We encourage students interested in honors who wish to start off their undergraduate education with an intellectual and social feast, to attend the Honors portions of New Student Orientation.
Seminars
The Honors Program holds weekly seminars to allow faculty members the opportunity to share with students their insights, their academic work, and their testimony about the gospel. These seminars are held every Thursday at 11:00 am in 321 MSRB. We hope that these seminars will enlighten honors students and expand their knowledge.
Summer Scholars
The BYU Honors Program invites you to participate in Summer Scholars' Academy, a weeklong university experience for college-bound high school students.
Join an exceptional and motivated group of your peers as you participate in a college prep course taught by BYU Honors faculty in one of four subject areas.
Daily classes each morning will be enhanced with field trips, demonstrations, labs, and/or experiments. Attend optional workshops that may include high school survival techniques, ACT preparation strategies, and stress management tools, as well as information on BYU scholarships and admissions.
College experiences outside the classroom ensure a good balance between academics and activities. Develop close and lasting friendships as you participate in a service learning project, a Salt Lake City field trip, group scripture study, family home evening, devotionals, a dance, a Friday evening banquet and a closing night participant party.
Summer Scholars' Academy provides an unusually rich and challenging experience for capable and motivated high school students. Come and join us at BYU!
