Course Guide

The course guide is organized alphabetically by course and section number. For students who are pursing the pre-2004 GE requirements, that code is listed first. The subsequent codes correspond to the current GE requirements. If you would like to view the description of what specific requirements these codes represent, please click here.

For each course in the course guide, a considerable amount of information is provided including:

  • The course department and catalog number and section number (since many courses are offered in more than one section, it is necessary to know which section is the Honors section);
  • The index number (or registration number), which the University's computers use to keep track of registration and records;
  • The name of the course's primary professor;
  • The number of credit hours earned by completing the course;
  • The time and place where the course is to be held; and
  • The title of the course, a description of its content, a list of representative readings, the methods of instruction, and the methods of evaluation.

    All of this information is important, as it enables the selection of the courses that will be most valuable and engaging, the planning of daily schedules, and the determining of the number of credit hours for which a student will be responsible.

    NOTE: In preparing to register, be sure to have the section number and the index number for each course in which you would like to enroll. You will need these numbers to complete your registration by add/drop cards. The University's class schedule provides information on registration, fees, calendar, and other important information.
