We hope this site will spark a distant memory or bring to mind something about your Honors experience. We want to hear about your post-BYU experiences, and what role the Honors experience has played in your life, so we have posted a downloadable Alumni Questionnaire. We would appreciate you filling these in and submitting them, both as a confirmation that you still exist and as a way for us to get to know you better. If you would prefer to call me directly and chat, I can be reached at (801) 422-5226.
MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT!
In order to continue offering a small liberal arts education to BYU Honors students, the Honors Program is initiating an endowment campaign. Over the next three years we plan to raise our Honors endowment significantly in support of on-going initiatives and new programs such as these:
Honors thesis mentoring and research ($100,000/year needed)
Great Works attendance ($20,000/year needed)
Honors Study Abroad, including Summers Honors at Cambridge ($100,000/year needed)
Late Summer Honors scholarships ($20,000/year needed)
Honors course endowments ($6,000 per course needed)
Honors Commons (Reading Room) in the Harold B. Lee Library (one-time gift of $65,000 needed)
Permission has been given to raise a $3 million endowment, which would generate approximately $250,000/year. All Honors students, Honors alumni, and parents of Honors students are invited and encouraged to donate whatever amount they can to the wonderful cause of Honors education. Checks made out to "BYU" with the annotation "Honors Program" in the memo section may be mailed to this address: LDS Philanthropies, Attention: Rich Kotter, 392 WIDB, BYU, Provo, UT 84602.
If you are interested in making a financial gift to the Honors Program, you can do so at the BYU Annual Fund web site.
With your help, we plan to raise this $3 million endowment in time for our 50-year anniversary in 2010. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Cordially,
Madison U. Sowell
Honors Program Director
Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education
